Carlos FEOLI, Founder and Executive Director of ASAGIR, passed away.
From 2001 to the end of his days, he was the CEO of ASAGIR and in 2008 he was elected president of the International Sunflower Association (ISA) until 2012.
The death of Carlos FEOLI, engineer agronomist researcher of INTA, founder and executive director of the Argentine Association of Sunflower since its creation, and president of the International Sunflower Association (ISA) from 2008 to 2012, generates a great sorrow in the value chain of sunflower.
At 68, Carlos died on September 28th after a short and terrible illness that kept him hospitalized for the last three months.
With a happy spirit and great human qualities, Carlos FEOLI graduated as an agronomist from the University of La Plata in 1974 and obtained his graduate degree from the North Dakota State University, Fargo, United States, in 1989, in the heart of the US sunflower, crop to which he dedicated a great part of his career.
Professional of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology from 1976 until his retirement in 2016, FEOLI was responsible for the development of crop production systems and extension agent in the western province of Buenos Aires. In 1989 he joined the research group of the Experimental Station Pergamino to work in the production of sunflower.
Teacher, consultant and restless man, in 1998 he joined the team that at that time promoted the concept of the food value chain and worked on the development of the sunflower value chain.
In 2000 he was one of the managers of the reorganization of the Argentine Association of Sunflower, ASAGIR, a non-profit organization whose objective is to increase production efficiency, quality and diversification of sunflower products and work according to the concept of food value chain. It was the first of its kind created in the country.
From 2001 to the end of his days, he was the CEO of ASAGIR and in 2008 he was elected president of the International Sunflower Association (ISA) until 2012.
Recognized for his human qualities, supportive, enterprising and visionary, he took in charge the strengthening of value chains and in particular of the sunflower crop. His death means a huge loss for chain organizations and for all those who knew him and had the opportunity to share projects with him.
FEOLI was born on February 27th, 1950 in Lomas de Zamora, province of Buenos Aires. He was married to Liliana and had a daughter, Regina.
